چکیده

This research is a part of a wide range investigation on the use of flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) in construction applications. It reports some results on the porosity and pore size distribution of cement paste containing varying amounts of fly ash-gypsum blends as partial replacement of cement. The cement was replaced with 25% of different blends of fly ash and gypsum. The gypsum content ranged from 0 to 100% the fly ash-gypsum blend. All the pastes were cured for 365 days. Increasing the amount of gypsum increases the pore volume and the tendency of obtaining coarser pore structure.

Pore Structure Changes of Blended Cement Pastes Containing Fly Ash, Rice Husk Ash, and Palm Oil Fuel Ash Caused by Carbonation

In this paper, the effects of carbonation on pore structure of blended pozzolan cement pastes were investigated. Ordinary Portland cement OPC was partially replaced with ground palm oil fuel ash POA , ground rice husk ash RHA and classified fine fly ash FA . The strength, total porosity, specific surface area, and pore size distribution were tested. In general, incorporation of pozzolans increa...

Influence of Particle Size Distributions on Yield Stress and Viscosity of Cement-Fly Ash Pastes

The rheological properties of blended cement-based materials depend strongly on mixture proportions and the characteristics of the components. In this study, design of experiments is used to investigate the influence of three variables (cement particle size distribution (PSD), fly ash PSD, and ratio of fly ash to cement) at each of four levels on the yield stress and viscosity of blended pastes...

Effect of Limestone Powder on Microstructure of Ternary Cementitious System

The pressure to reach sustainability favours the development of ternary composite cement. The synergistic effect on mechanical behaviour at 28 days between limestone powder (LP) and pozzolanic additives, i.e. fly ash (FA) and blast furnace slag (BFS), has been documented. In order to better understand the synergistic effect, this article investigated the effect of LP on the microstructure of PC...

A Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Pulsed Field Gradient Study of Self-Diffusion of Water in Hydrated Cement Pastes

The results of oneand two-dimensional H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) pulsed field gradient (PFG) diffusometry studies of water in white cement paste with a water-tocement ratio 0.4 and aged from 1 day to 1 year are reported. The study shows that the NMRPFG method is primarily sensitive to the capillary porosity. Data is fit on the basis of a lognormal pore size distribution with pore size d...

Mixture Proportioning Options for Improving High Volume Fly Ash Concretes

High volume fly ash (HVFA) concretes are one component of creating a more sustainable infrastructure. By replacing 50 % or more of the Portland cement with fly ash, a significant reduction is achieved in the carbon footprint of the in place concrete. While HVFA mixtures can be proportioned to produce equivalent long term performance as conventional (cement-only) mixtures, performance problems a...
